Present: Deidre Heindl, Ed Kimball, Dennis Lesser, Rich Torino, Janet Tripp and Marianne Visco

The meeting was called to order by our President Deidre Heindl.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Deidre said that tonight’s portion of the fundraiser will go to the Parsley family who tragically lost their son.

Deidre called on Sheriff Representative Kevin Farrell. Kevin said overall it was quiet in March. They arrested 2 people for stealing AC & copper in 3 vacant houses. Overall there were 3 house and 3 car burglaries. The detectives arrested 5 persons. Kevin left handouts. Questions followed. Deidre thanked Kevin.

Code Enforcement Officer Brent Toms said in March there were 47 violations. of which 44 were self inflected, and so far this month (April) there were 34 violations of which 29 were self inflected.  Brent said the grass is starting to grow, so watch the height. Deidre mentioned how helpful Mary Zettel from Code was with information regarding signs. She also directed her to go online and look at the land development code. Marianne questioned the legality of placing the civic assoc sign in her yard. Answer For meeting notification they won’t bother you. However, if its advertisements and it is in the right of way, they usually remove them. Ed mentioned the high grass by the Mobile station. It has been mowed. Warren discussed Veranda signs. He has no problem with them. He brought up the Fort Myers Civic Assoc signs and explained we are planning to install one on the west side of the fire station. Fire Chief
Dewey Duncan offered to pull the deed to see where we can install it. Warren suggested we generate a sign on the computer so everyone would have an idea of what it would look like. Deidre said the price of a 4’ X 8’ flat sign is $350.00 she is waiting on additional quotes.

Fire Chief Dewey Duncan said its getting dry, so be cautious.  Also the ISO inspection results are not in yet. He mentioned that this weekend is the Jr Diabetes walk and in May the Relay for Life is being held at Riverdale High School. Their group includes 1st Bank; Us; Alva; Bayshore & Fischer Marine.  Deidre thanked Dewey

Janet gave the treasurer report. As of today we have $3,458.25 and tonight two additional businesses joined, Riverland Nursery & Darla’s Restaurant.

Deidre discussed our business opportunities. Our neighborhood has 2,500 homes. We have contacted the businesses in the community and if they choose to join us in advertisements that will be given to every home site within the Shores. This Sunday we will meet at Deidre’s home and stuff the door bags. We plan to distribute throughout the week. We need help with the distribution. She introduced two of the businesses who are joining with us. The Fischer’s who own Fischer Marine (Consignment & Yacht Brokerage Specialists) are located along State Road 80 @ 13400 Palm Beach Blvd. and Mayer, Owner of Riverdale Nursery, also located on Palm Beach Blvd.

Deidre welcomed back Carl Deithloff. Carl had a double organ transplant. He said he’s home from the hospital and feeling great!

Carl indicated he would like to do something special for the fire department.

Deidre mentioned that Olga’s Community Clean-Up is this weekend on Saturday April 16th . If you can make it contact Tad Miller.

Ed updated all on our plan. He mentioned that this Tuesday it’s FREE to ride the bus (Lee Tram)

Rich discussed looking into the Lee Grows Program and mentioned the death of Booth.

Warren thanked Deidre for all of her work on our program.

Deidre discussed various ideas for fundraising. She would like to do an October event and Mayer offered to let us use his site.

Fundraiser winner was Janet Tripp, who turned her winnings back.  The Parsley Family will receive $69.00. Dennis Lesser won the gift certificate to Beef O'Brady's. There was 1 paid membership  through Paypal ($15.00)
